A VDOT worker is in critical condition after being struck by a car on I-395 Tuesday night.
We’re told the crash happened around 10:20 p.m., on I-395 between Shirlington and the Pentagon. According to initial reports, the worker was setting out traffic cones to warn drivers of an accident ahead when he or she was struck by a vehicle.
The patient was transported to the trauma center at George Washington University Hospital with life-threatening injuries.
Weather may have been a factor — it was raining at the time of the crash.
An Arlington County Fire Department spokesman confirmed the incident but was unable to provide additional details.
